THE INSPIRATION
We've all seen the pictures and videos of plastic waste piling up in our environment. The large trash island in the ocean known as The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is harming marine life, and was recently discovered to be larger than we thought. The most recent news is that if we don't take steps to curb our consumption of disposable plastic, our oceans will contain more plastic than fish by the year 2050.
Most of our trash is the result of single-use packaging; a bottle, box or bag to be used once then passed on to a trash or recycling bin. Though it's vital that we recycle all the plastics we can, doing so doesn't always close the loop. After several rounds of recycling most plastics are too degraded to be turned into what they were or something similar, so they're downcycled into an object that can no longer be recycled, and will end up in a landfill or somewhere else.
Excessive waste polluting our planet is a problem. Single-use packaging is the culprit. What can we do about it?
One day as I was looking around my bathroom it hit me; do we really need a new plastic bottle every time we buy soap, shampoo and lotion? Absolutely not! All we really need is more of the product. What if we could refill these products using any reusable container? We'd cut down on the trash polluting our environment as well as the demand for new containers to be created.
There's a growing desire for more sustainable, non-toxic options in our everyday lives. SUDSOURCE was created to offer the luxurious, non-toxic, eco-friendly body care products you want without the harmful waste of single-use packaging.
